Disclosure

spine.fyi is published by LABS, the team that builds labs.llc. Rx.Luxury, the clinical desk reviewed in every entry on this site, is software written by that same team.

That is the disclosure and there is no softer way to put it: this is a house publication reviewing its own house. It is stated in the footer of every page on this site, at the top of this one, and it should colour how you read every favourable sentence in the notebook.

What that changes about the writing

It means praise here is worth less than a figure. So the entries are built out of figures: byte counts, element dimensions, array lengths, timings, each with the UTC minute it was taken, each taken from a public page anybody can open and check for themselves. Where the notebook admires something, it tries to admire a measurable thing — a file that is 582.6 KiB instead of 1.6 MB, a preset whose numbers are the right numbers — rather than an impression.

It also means every entry has to publish a defect, and the defects have to be real enough to reproduce. Three entries, six named faults, including two that are visible in the screenshots on this site. The method page lists them.

Money

Nobody is paid to appear on this site and there is nothing to buy on it. There is no advertising, no affiliate link, no sponsored placement and no commercial relationship with any third party mentioned in the entries. The properties reviewed are free to use and belong to the publisher.

Ratings

This site publishes no scores, no stars and no aggregate ratings, and emits no rating markup of any kind in its pages. A notebook that scored its own publisher’s software out of ten would be advertising with a decimal point in it.

Links

Links to labs.llc in the body of an entry are ordinary editorial links to the exact page being described — that is the point of a review. The publisher line in the footer of every page, which exists to declare ownership rather than to pass endorsement, is marked nofollow.

Health

Nothing on spine.fyi is medical advice. No entry diagnoses anything, recommends any treatment, or should be used to decide whether to seek care. The imaging lab described in these pages displays medical images and does not interpret them; where an entry discusses it, it says so in its own first paragraph.

Counting

This notebook runs one third-party script and it is a counter: Google Analytics 4, property G-JMC34YKWYT, which belongs to spine.fyi alone and carries no other site’s identifier. What it records is the page you opened, roughly what part of the world asked for it, what kind of device and browser asked, and the address that sent you; it sets its own cookies to tell one visit from the next. It is never given a name, because there is nothing on this site to type one into — no form, no account, no comment box. Refuse it and nothing breaks: every entry here is static HTML and reads the same with the counter blocked.
